With Adaptive Checkout, you can give more shoppers the flexibility to pay the way they want to at more price points. Some want to split the total price into 4 interest-free amounts to be paid every 2 weeks. Others want to pay for the same purchase in monthly installments, up to 36 months, that fit better into their budgets. Adaptive Checkout makes both options available to more shoppers in one frictionless experience.
For the first time, shoppers can now see several relevant pay-over-time options throughout the shopping journey, and the new experience is our highest-converting solution.
How Adaptive Checkout can drive more sales for you
During our beta test this summer, participating merchants who upgraded to Adaptive Checkout saw average gains in customer approvals (+22%), conversion rate (+26%) and Affirm sales volume (+20%). These results were additive to gains the businesses were already seeing by offering monthly installments with Affirm. They also demonstrate the impact of combining pay-over-time options in one seamless experience.
Whisker, a leading innovator in pet tech, was one of the test participants. The company saw double-digit lifts in both conversion and Affirm sales volume with the new technology.

How the shopping experience works with Adaptive Checkout
You can implement Adaptive Checkout for your business with a simple tech integration. Once Adaptive Checkout is enabled, every eligible shopper sees their pay-over-time options during the onsite shopping journey and at checkout.
As shoppers consider their purchase, the technology translates price into flexible terms that drive conversion. Adaptive Checkout unlocks more payment options and automatically customizes the Affirm promotional messaging up-funnel as shoppers decide what to buy. The choice of either 4 interest-free payments or as low as monthly payment plans appears as early as the product display page (see example below).
When shoppers are ready to check out with Affirm, they provide 4 quick pieces of information to receive the most relevant payment options. Eligible shoppers will then see a multi-option display detailing the choice of 4 interest-free payments or monthly installment plans with different term lengths, up to 36 months.
Once shoppers choose their plan, they’ll see the amount they agreed to pay at checkout—and that total will never change. There are no hidden or late fees with Affirm.
